The company had followed Lord Bandelaine into the vast wilderness of the ruined lands of Xor only to have him die before reaching their destination. Fortunately, he had been prepared and had an inn and some housing constructed in anticipation of the early settlers’ arrival. The company decided to call the town Butterspring.

The company quickly leanred the myths they had heard about Xor had some truth. The land was plagued by rifts to other planes, some temporary and some permanent, that unleashed violent energies and warped the landscape. While dangerous, these rifts produced crystals that were in great demand in civilized lands. Even more valuable were the rare rift hearts which could be used by mages to bend the laws that governed magic. It was these riches which drew Lord Bandelaine’s eye, thinking those that could tame the land of Xor could found a new state with the profits.

One district had been prepared in advance, holding The Angry Plowman Inn, one block of houses, and a Xorian laboratory.

The company set out soon after arriving, following a map they found on the late Lord Bandelaine to a nearby mine. On the way they explored the nearby area and found a small verdant rift nestled in some rolling hills. The area surrounding that had been filled with positive energy causing a surge in plant growth. While exploring, Bu was discovered by a weeping-willow treeman who unsuccessfully attacked her. She led them back to the party who quickly dispatched it.

The company gathered some of the large vegetation as rations. Bjernen gathered seeds. Wiv used his magic to close the rift producing two rift crystals and a rift heart. They then camped for the night.

The next morning they reached the mine. Their first obstacle there was a wolf who was housed in an old cabin. The wolf growled and barked but held its ground. The party went around and entered the.  After a few goblin defenders were overcome with the sleep spell, Wiv parleyed with a goblin sargeant named Derp. After some negotiation the party was then introduced to King Sludge and his minions who showed off their collections of heads. King Sludge was willing to trade the silver they were mining for weapons, armor, and booze.

The deal was struck and Wiv was given a rod with a devil’s head that would grant them peaceful passage in the future. Wiv also drank a horrible concoction of foul liquor to seal the deal, successfully holding his vomit back. A small feast was then held.

Before returning to Buttterspring, Wiv cast sleep on the wolf and found it was protecting a female and six cubs. Sal captured all of them and took them back to town. In town they sold the rift crystals and heart to Marko and planned to build either a blacksmith or brewery first to seal their deal with the goblins.
